Abstract:

Handwritten and typed minutes of meetings for the Athenian Club, Aug. 14, 1893-July 7, 1910, mostly concerning activities, financial matters, and rules.
Scrapbook includes reports, letters, announcements, clippings, and photographs mostly concerning the Nile Club, 1897-1914. These items refer to the operations and meetings of the club, as well as programs for their monthly historic and literary dramatic spoofs, known as "Jinks," and humorous items. Some contain Egyptian news and references, which reflect the original theme of the club, such as a hand-drawn poster for a 1913 outing. Also contains material regarding the Athenian-Nile Club, 1915-1984, including clipping, Mar. 25, 1915, which refers to the merger of the clubs. Some pages with photographs contain handwritten annotations, including one with organizers of the Athenian Club, circa 1883. The register of guests (May 31, 1929-April 14, 1955) consists of name and city of guest, name of associated club member, and date visited. With the register, one loose register sheet, 1973-1974.
